Nusskern Opens at Fashion Island
The Michael Nusskern boutique has been a player on the Orange County, Calif., retail scene since 1984, but it made the biggest splash of its history just a couple weeks ago.
On April 16, the small, stylish women’s boutique, which is located in Newport Beach’s Harbor View Center neighborhood mall, made a gamble to open a 1,900-square-foot store at the high-profile Fashion Island retail center, also located in Newport Beach.
Nusskern owner Wakim Kivorkian chose to open a big store because, he said, he had a small window of opportunity to take prime real estate. The new store is located adjacent to a full-line Nordstrom store, which also debuted April 16. “We wanted to take a chance,” Kivorkian said. “Opportunity does not come around every day.”—Andrew Asch
