Sunny Outlook at Kohl’s
Menomonee Falls, Wis.–based Kohl’s Department Stores announced plans to convert 10 of its 23 stores in Colorado to solar power by the end of the year. Kohl’s has already converted stores in six states—California, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon and Wisconsin—to solar power. When completed, each of the 10 Colorado Kohl’s stores will have more than 530 solar panels that together will generate approximately 15 percent of the store’s energy. Combined, the 10 Colorado stores will generate about 1.6 million kWh per year, which is the equivalent of powering 153 homes for a year, according to Kohl’s. The retailer began its solar initiative in California in 2007 and currently has 86 solar locations across the country.
