ASR Announces 2011 Show Dates
The Action Sports Retailer Trade Expo has announced its 2011 dates for its biannual show, which will return to three-day formats.
ASR will take place Jan. 13–15 and Aug. 18–20 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego. “The selected dates and the event’s number of days, back to three, come in response to the industry’s evolving sales and marketing needs. Earlier dates for the January event will allow for Fall line breaks, while providing brands with the opportunity to wrap up Summer season sales,” a statement from the trade show said.
Andy Tompkins, vice president of ASR, said in a statement that the January dates “come on the wake of retail holiday season momentum, when dealers have an accurate view of what’s trending and are ready to buy.”
The new dates have been endorsed by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association, International Association of Skateboard Companies and Board Retailers Association as a beneficial time for the industry’s buyers and sellers to connect.
ASR’s remaining 2010 show will be held Aug. 13–15.—Erin Barajas
