Toute La Nuit
In between slinky lace-trimmed nighties and the women’s version of a men’s button-down pajama set lives Toute La Nuit sleepwear.
The San Francisco–based brand was founded by Karen Judge, who sought sleepwear that was “appropriate for private time and you can wear it to the breakfast table the next morning in front of your house guests, in front of your kids—you can answer the door in it.”
Though Toute La Nuit is Judge’s first clothing venture, she has made a living off her eye for design through 2SisterDesigns, her 6-year-old jewelry line made from semiprecious stones, hammered metal and gold.
For Toute La Nuit, Judge creates simple, easy-to-wear shapes in high-quality woven fabrics such as linen, silk charmeuse and cotton with Lurex stripe. The designer proclaims she is “not a big ribbons-and-lace person,” preferring to employ ruched self-trim on an off-the-shoulder puffy sleeve or a self-trim ruffle accent under an empire waist. The sparing use of ruffles has a feminine touch with a clean finish. “We wanted to have a little bit of embellishment without making it look like something a little kid would wear,” Judge said.
Sleepwear gowns, chemises and tops cut with an empire waist are reinforced with elastic, offering support that is not constricting. Judge’s loose, breathable designs have been attractive to plus-size buyers and customers—so much so that Judge plans to expand her size range into plus sizes.
Wholesale prices are $20 for a ruffled bralette, $20 for a ruffled bloomer short, $43 for a short-sleeved nightie with ruffled sleeves and $60 for a robe with flouncy sleeves.
