PDR Knitting, a Los Angeles-based boutique knitter, has been making sweaters for a variety of brands since its launch three years ago. Now, the company, headed by Evita Chu, has found its way into a lofty circle of high-fashion designers. The company has whipped up sweaters and knit pieces for Rodarte and Koi Suwannagate—West Coast fashion designers whose innovative designs make them the toast of the New York fashion elite. This week Chu got a thrill to see three of her company's creations land on designer Jason Wu's Spring 2010 runway during New York Fashion Week.

“We’ve been working with Jason Wu since last year,” Chu said. The hand-loomed pieces, a matching yellow sweater set and a navy short-sleeved sweater, feature a difficult stitch—the drop needle, drop stitch—that results in a lighweight, cob-webby knit. Each piece takes one person a full day to hand loom. PDR Knitting produces samples and production for Jason Wu, as well as Apolis Activism, Corpus and others.
