Surface-trade shipments among the three North American Free Trade Agreement member countries—Canada, Mexico and the United States—were down 31.5 percent in June compared with the same period last year, but they were up 6 percent over May. The slight month-to-month uptick is contrary to seasonal trends and suggests that the economy may be picking up.
