AllSaints to Open on Robertson
Trendy U.K.-based retailer AllSaints Spitalfields will make its U.S. debut on Los Angeles’ high-profile retail street Robertson Boulevard.
The hip retailer, founded in 1994 as a menswear label before branching out, signed a 10-year lease for 100 Robertson Blvd., which formerly housed the Agnes B. boutique, said Jay Luchs, who brokered the deal. While Luchs didn’t outline the terms of the lease, he did say that prime retail space on the boulevard goes for $14 to $20 a square foot.
AllSaints—which makes stylish fashions for men, women and children—is moving into a 4,700-square-foot store scheduled to open in mid-November. The British retailer, which opened its first store in 1997 in London, intends to debut 30 to 40 U.S. stores in cities such as Miami and New York in the next three years, according to a company representative. Currently, it operates 50 stand-alone stores in the United Kingdom.
New Yorkers were introduced to AllSaints last month when the retailer opened a 1,000-square-foot shop-within-a-shop at the Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th Street.
AllSaints’ Robertson space has been vacant for one year because of the economy. When Agnes B. moved out in September 2008, more than eight internationally known retailers put in offers for the location. But all offers were withdrawn after Wall Street’s financial meltdown in late 2008, Luchs said.—Andrew Asch
