L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2010: Mike Vensel
Los Angeles–based designer Mike Vensel took a riff off of the word “classic” with his Wild Horses collection, which he debuted Oct. 15 at Fashion at Broadway at the Los Angeles Theater.
The one of the most classic looks of all times—ancient Greek—was the inspiration for the one-shoulder/asymmetric dresses for Wild Horses’ 26-look show. The dresses were constructed in suede silk, silk chiffon and organic cotton. The dresses came in very long maxi and very short mini-styles. Other styles included tank poncho dresses and a deep V-open-back dress. Vensel also constructed swimsuits out of black organic cotton. Continuing in a minimal mindset, Vensel said every one of his garments was constructed out of a single pattern piece and a single piece of fabric.—Andrew Asch
