L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2010: Yotam Solomon
For Yotam Solomon, beautiful fabrics and a keen eye for silhouette are not enough. A dress must be properly accessorized. In his Spring 2010 collection, called “Shining Through,” he crafted custom glass for the details on the collection’s gowns and cocktail dresses. A capsule collection was shown Oct. 14 at Downtown L.A. Fashion Week in the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
Along with the beautiful bamboo and silk fabrics used for the pieces, Solomon intended light to reflect in a graceful way from the glasses pieces sewn on the dresses. Fortunately, he also guaranteed the glass to be shatter-proof.
Also seen in this capsule collection was a gray cocktail dress with avant style straps. Other jewelry displayed in the show hailed from the collection “Positively Bold by Niki Shadrow.”—Andrew Asch
