Coalition Formed to Support Industry Efforts
A group of apparel and textile industry representatives met recently in an effort to find ways to work together to support industry efforts.
In attendance at the May 13 meeting were representatives from the Textile Association of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fashion District, the California Fashion Association, Fashion Business Inc., the Korean American Manufacturers Association, the Garment Contractors Association, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Los Angeles Garment and Citizen and the California Apparel News.
“The purpose of this meeting is for us to work together to benefit the textile and apparel industry,” said Brian Thaler, TALA president, who called the meeting and dubbed the group the Trade Organization Coalition.
Among the items on the agenda were strategies for garnering government support of apparel-industry issues and opportunities for cross-promotion of industry events.
The coalition plans to meet again later this summer. —Alison A. Nieder
