Waisner Promoted at Barbara Fields
Kristina Marie Waisner was named junior buyer covering wholesale and retail markets in California for the Barbara Fields Buying Office, based in Los Angeles.
Waisner will take responsibility for the reporting of Fields’ publications, such as the Fields L.A.@ Retail Report, which spotlight upcoming trends and fashion companies. For more than 29 years, Fields has published scores of these publications highlighting styles in fashion capitals across the globe. She also presents biannual seminars forecasting fashion trends. Clients have included retailers Macy’s, Kohl’s and JCPenney.
A key aspect of Waisner’s job will be reporting on resources based at the fashion showroom buildings California Market Center and San Pedro Wholesale Mart. The latter building is heavily focused on Korean-American fashion manufacturers. “There’s so much expansion in the Korean market, and it is changing every second,” Fields said.
Waisner said business is expanding at most of the places on which she will be reporting, but the San Pedro Mart has demanded more focus recently. “We noticed so many stores placing orders at the Mart. We have to be there,” she said.
Waisner worked in sales and management at retailers such as Limited Too and Claire’s Accessories. She joined the Barbara Fields Buying Office in August 2005 as a free-lancer, reporting on fashion trends and helping to publish the company’s fashion periodicals.
The buying office’s seminar “Barbara Fields Fall 2009 Fashion Trend Presentation” is scheduled for April 5–7, during the Los Angeles Majors Market. —Andrew Asch
