CPSC Recalls Kids' Havianas
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 210,000 children’s flip-flops manufactured by New York–based Alpargatas USA Inc. because the footwear failed to meet the restrictions regarding lead content. The Havianas-brand flip-flops, which were manufactured in Brazil, feature decorative paint that was found to contain lead. Havianas shoes without the decorative paint are not part of the recall. The shoes were sold at department and specialty stores from November 2006 through February 2009. The CPSC recommends consumers return the flip-flops to Alpargatas for replacement.
