L.A. Fashion Week's Call to Action
Jen Uner issues a call to action to the L.A. fashion community.
It’s not too early to start getting ready for L.A. Fashion Week!
Members of the fashion community—including designers, retailers, executives, stylists, public-relations specialists and fashion show producers—gathered rooftop at the soon-to-open Hotel Erwin in Venice to get fired up for fashion week.
The party was hosted by Jen Uner, creator of the L.A. Fashion Awards and FashionWeekLA.com events calendar. Uner’s purpose in throwing the soiree was to issue a “call to action … the fashion community, the designers, the retailers, the stylists.”
“We have an opportunity for a paradigm shift,” she said. “We’re the most creative city in the nation and the one that has the most influence on style.”
Among the party guests were Nick Verreos, Petro Zillia’s Nony Tochterman, Aero Co.’s Alisa Loftin, The Way We Wore’s Doris Raymond, Alpha’s Darren Gold, Tarina Tarantino, John Arguelles of Lloyd Klein and Fashion Group International–Los Angeles, California Fashion Association’s Ilse Metchek, the Los Angeles Fashion District’s Kent Smith and Leanna Lewis, creator of Downtown L.A. Fashion Week.
“You guys are the leaders; where you go others will follow,” said Uner, who will soon unveil a revamped FashionWeekLA.com, which will include more information about L.A. Fashion Week activities and allow visitors to register for the event. She also recognized Los Angeles accountancy Moss Adams for its role as a founding sponsor of the L.A. Fashion Awards.
In all it was a great party—snappy conversation, tasty hors d’oeuvres, stiff drinks and spectacular 180-degree views—everything you need to build excitement for October’s main event.
