Li & Fung Affiliate Leases Giant IE Warehouse
IDS USA, which is the distribution arm of Hong Kong–based apparel giant Li & Fung Group, has expanded its presence in Southern California, having recently signed a five-year lease for a 645,000-square-foot warehouse facility in the Inland Empire city of Mira Loma, Calif.
The facility is located in the Galleano Distribution Center, at 11905 Landon Drive off of Interstate 15, and will handle distribution for clothing products throughout the Southwestern United States. It is situated on 31 acres with about 5,000 square feet of office space. Officials from AMB Property Corp., which owns the facility, said it is the largest lease signed in California this year.
The facility features 112-dock cross-dock loading and enough space for 170 trailers and may be eligible for foreign trade-zone benefits.
“IDS USA’s lease of the well-located AMB Galleano distribution center gives us a strategic foothold in the Los Angeles market and enables us to expand our business while consolidating operations,” said Simon Oxley, managing director and president of IDS USA, whose U.S. headquarters is located in Secaucus, N.J.
The company will move into the facility later this month. IDS is the distribution division of Li & Fung, which also has sourcing and retail operations. IDS offers full pick-and-pack, bulk distribution, fulfillment, catalog distribution, alteration, and air and ground transportation. The Li & Fung Group posted revenues of $16.7 billion in 2008. —Robert McAllister
