3PL Provider Expands on West Coast
Third-party logistics handler Empire Logistics and Warehousing Inc., based in Carlstadt, N.J., has expanded operations on the West Coast, leasing a 235,000-square-foot warehouse in Cypress, Calif.
The lease accounts for one of the largest deals placed in Orange County over the past two years, according to brokers.
Empire provides distribution and warehousing services, mostly for private-label retailers. The company operates using sophisticated Garments-on-Hangers (GOH) automated systems, which speed up the distribution process.
The company has a 600,000-square-foot warehouse in New Jersey. Its new West Coast facility will be based in the same building where footwear maker Vans Inc. operates, located in North Orange County, proximate to the Port of Los Angeles as well as other transportation gateways.
The move will allow the company to consolidate operations, as it currently owns two buildings in Compton, Calif., accounting for 150,000 square feet. For more information, visit www.empirenj.com. —Robert McAllister
