Eagle Rock Boutique Owl Talk Celebrates 15 Years

Over the weekend, I dropped by one of my favorite local stores: Owl Talk in Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock neighborhood.

Sisters Kathy and Sharon Kroner were celebrating 15 years in business with an in-store party (and sale, naturally) all weekend.

Customers turned out to browse the vintage, resale and new merchandise selected with the discerning eyes of the sisters. The two bring a mix of expertise to the store. Kathy is the merchandiser (you may have seen her at one of Fashion Business Inc.’s retail-education classes), while

Sharon is the designer. An alum of Otis College of Art Design (back in the Otis/Parsons day) who worked at several local manufacturers before opening the store, Sharon will occasionally tweak an out-of-style vintage piece into a more-wearable silhouette for sale in the store.

Located near the corner of Eagle Rock and Colorado, Owl Talk is among a handful of fashion retailers in the neighborhood—including contemporary store Lily Simone, vintage store Lucy Finch and children’s stores Twerps and Rockin’ Kid Shop—all great for gifts and impulse buys.
