Jantzen Celebrates 100, Relaunches Seminal Brand
Jantzen, one of the oldest swimwear brands, will celebrate 100 years in 2010. Kicking off the centennial celebration early, Jantzen will host “Beauty on the Beach: A Centennial Celebration of Swimwear”July 18 in Miami Beach, Fla., at The Wolfsonian-Florida International University. The event, sponsored by Elle magazine, will kick off a 13-week exhibition that will highlight Jantzen’s archives, including original artwork, advertisements, bathing suits and celebrity swim suits.
The swimwear maker is digging into its archives for modern-day inspiration, as well. The new Heritage Collection by Jantzen will debut with reinterpretations of the brand’s classic pieces from each decade from the 1920s through today.
A division of Perry Ellis International, Jantzen has also relaunched Curvallure by Jantzen to replace its TrimSwim swimwear line. Originally launched in 1940, today’s Curveallure swimsuits will be targeted to women in search of slimming swimwear. Come October, Curvallure by Jantzen swimsuits will partner with the Go Red for Women Red Dress show event in October to help combat heart disease. —Erin Barajas
