Safety First at Invista

Fiber maker Invista’s manufacturing facility in Paulinia, Brazil, recently celebrated 35 years—or more than 23 million work hours—without a lost-time injury. The achievement earned the Brazilian facility the first-ever Invista Star Site rating, which is “the highest internal level of safety achievement an Invista manufacturing plant can achieve.” The Invista Star program is an internal safety program modeled after the U.S. Occupational Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program. In addition, the Paulinia facility earned the Invista Perfect Year recognition last year for operating “without accidents or environmental incidents” during 2008. The facility has also held ISO 14000 certification since 1998 and recycles 94 percent of total solid waste generated at the facility.
