FIDM Gets Inaugural

The Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising will be part of the presidential inauguration festivities when the California design school co-hosts a “Presidential Inaugural Luncheon Fashion Show” on Jan. 18 in Washington, D.C.

Billed as a bipartisan event co-hosted by the California State Society, the show will feature the work of recent FIDM grads, as well as some of the schools’ famous alums, including Kevan Hall, Nick Verreos and Leanne Marshall, last year’s “Project Runway” winner.

Verreos, also a former “Project Runway” constestant, will present a series of gowns inspired by America’s First Ladies—from the Martha Washington, to Mary Todd Lincoln, to Michelle Obama.

The event will be held in the Grand Ballroom at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The California Society is a nonprofit, nonpartisan volunteer organization created to promote

California in WashingtonD.C. The group’s Web site has more information about the event. And Verreos has some background information on his blog.
