Cuts at Eddie Bauer
Seattle-based Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc. announced plans to cut 193 jobs from the company’s headquarters in Seattle; its information-technology center in Chicago; a distribution center in Columbus, Ohio; and a call center in New Brunswick, Canada. The layoffs represent about 15 percent of Eddie Bauer’s non-retail staff. In addition, the company announced plans to limit net capital spending, freeze salaries, adjust some benefits programs and reduce the size of its board of directors, as well as reduce board compensation.
