Vivienne Westwood to Show at Hong Kong Fashion Week
Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler
For all the years that I have been going to Hong Kong Fashion Week, this is probably a first.
Fashion doyenne Vivienne Westwood will be presenting a runway show at Hong Kong Fashion Week, scheduled for Jan. 18-21, as well as hosting a pre-show cocktail party.
If that weren't fabulous enough, Westwood's husband, Andreas Kronthaler, the creative director of Vivienne Westwood, will be holding a seminar the day after the fashion show, imparting wisdom about everything Vivienne, who has been designing for more than 30 years.
Hong Kong Fashion Week is a mix of fashion shows and a trade show for apparel factories looking for business. In the past, the catwalk has been occupied mostly by Asian designers from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea and China. Westerners are a rare appearance. But Hong Kong Fashion Week has snagged the British designer, known for bringing modern punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream, to add her mix of creativity to the week. This should make for one interesting fashion week.
