Solid Stone Adds Sublimation Printing, Expands Offerings
Solid Stone Fabrics recently added sublimation printing to its offerings, which include stretch and novelty textiles, fabric printing, and garment manufacturing. The Martinsville, Va.–based company installed a high-capacity sublimation printer and will install a second one in early 2010, according to Luke Harris, vice president of manufacturing.Adding digital sublimation printing helps Solid Stone cut lead times and offer more design flexibility.“We can print one yard of any design if needed, same day or 800 yards in a day,” Harris said.
“We are used to waiting for up to four weeks for samples to be developed. It has broadened our printed-product offerings from only stretch dance/swimwear items to woven fabrics such as silk for flags to canvas for bags.quot; Solid Stone recently hired James Swing as senior graphic-design artist. Swing will develop new designs and work with key accounts on print development and other design services. Swing’s graphic-design experience includes working for brands such as Disney, NASCAR, Health-Tex and Budweiser.
“With our recent addition of digital sublimation equipment, James completes the package,” Harris said. “We can now offer custom art and design development and complete printing services right here in our Virginia operation. This will save a tremendous amount of time and expense for our clients.”—Alison A. Nieder
