Russh Mode Debuts an Alternative on L.A.'s Robertson Boulevard

When fashion veteran George Arrington made a gamble to open his first boutique on Los Angeles’ high-profile Robertson Boulevard, he also wanted to provide an alternative on the denim-obsessed street.

He debuted the Russh Mode boutique at 352 N. Robertson Blvd. on Nov. 21. It sells the Russh Mode brand of women’s premium denim for an underserved group. “Most premium lines are made for young, skinny girls,” Arrington said. The Russh Mode denim line was intended for women looking for jeans that can easily go from the office to an expensive restaurant. It focused on a quiet, sophisticated look for its debut collection, which started shipping June 15. Russh Mode’s eight styles eschew ornate stitching or distressed washes. Fits range from a low-rise style to looser-fitting boyfriend jeans. Retail price points range from $150 to $200.

The debut of the store represents a major milestone for Arrington. He spent his career working as a production chief for high-profile denim companies such as Paige Premium Denim and William Rast. Russh Mode is his first entrepreneurial venture. If he deems the store’s sales a success, he said, he will investigate opening other stores.—Andrew Asch
