Ross Names New Senior Management

Off-price retailer Ross Stores has been reporting high sales during the past year characterized by a weak economy, and on Dec. 4, the Pleasanton, Calif.shy;–based retailer announced a slew of new promotions in what the company called a “new senior management structure.”

According to a company statement, the new management structure features three presidents who will report to Co-chairman and Chief Executive Office Michael Balmuth.

All three new Ross chieftains worked as executive vice presidents until recently. Barbara Rentler, formerly executive vice-president of merchandising for Ross Dress For Less, was promoted to president and chief merchandising officer. Michael O’ Sullivan, formerly executive vice president and chief administrative officer, was named president and chief operating officer. James Fassio, previously executive vice president for property development, construction and store design, was named president and chief development officer.

The company announced other promotions in its merchandising department. Lisa Panattoni was named group executive vice president and will direct buying for men’s and children’s categories as well as homewares.

Bernard Brautigan was named executive vice president, merchandising. He will be responsible for misses better sportswear as well as shoes, accessories, jewelry, lingerie and ladies hosiery.
