American Apparel Opens First Kids' Store
Los Angeles–based apparel manufacturer and retailer American Apparel opened its first-ever children’s store, located in Berlin. The inaugural American Apparel Kids store occupies an 829-square-foot storefront that formerly housed a California Select Vintage store, American Apparel’s fledgling vintage retail chain. Shoppers will find an expanded range of more than 30 items in a variety of colors and fabrications for kids.
American Apparel, which sells casualwear—such as T-shirts, leggings, denim, swimwear and knit tops for adultsshy;—will stock items such as one-pieces, socks, sweaters, backpacks, leotards, parkas, baby slings and printed leggings for kids. American Apparel has sold children’s clothing online and in its stores since 2003.
“This neighborhood in Berlin is an area where an internationally diverse culture and the arts have mixed with a boom in new families to create a very unique place for raising children,” said Marsha Brady, an American Apparel creative director, in the statement. “It has some of the most vibrant public parks and playgrounds we’ve seen and was at the top of our list of places to test out an American Apparel Kids store.”
