Betsey Johnson's Birthday Bash
Fashion designer Betsey Johnson is not letting 67 slow her down. The designer of everything fun, frilly and girly invited fans to help her celebrate the milestone at her store on Melrose Avenue.
A line snaked out the door of the boutique with fans—many in their best frocks—waiting to meet Johnson.
The party inside the store—complete with pink drinks, a pink cake and candy treats—was not only a celebration of Johnson’s birthday but also the spirit of her designs, perfectly encapsulated by the fans outfitted in Johnson’s signature baby-doll and floral dresses.
On hand to help out with the festivities (and some major shopping sprees) were managers from Johnson’s West Coast store locations—all decked out spectacularly in Johnson’s creations. Michelle Garcia, manager of the San Diego store, said it was a treat to have the designer"—who hasn’t made an appearance on the "West Coast in two years"—"in L.A. Despite the queue of eager fans, Johnson tried her best to spend time with each fan, chatting with each person, taking pictures and signing autographs. “That's why it’s a great company to work for,” Garcia said.
I didn’t get a chance to witness Johnson’s famous cartwheeling, but I’m sure she obliged for all of her new friends.
