Larger Crowds Expected for Las Vegas Off-Price Specialist Show

Organizers of the Off-Price Specialist Show, set for Aug. 28–Sept. 1 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, said pre-registration is already up 19 percent over last February’s show, which is usually considered the strongest of the biannual shows.

The show features overruns, irregular and past-season merchandise at discount prices. As the economic downturn has put pressure on pricing, more retailers have been looking for in-stock and off-price apparel and accessories.

Demand has pushed floor space to a near sell-out position, said Stephen Krogulski, chief executive officer of the Off-Price Specialist Show.

David Lapidos, vice president, said retailers are finally “getting it” that off-price is a value-driven market as opposed to price-driven.

“Even if they feel forced to buy off-price, they get the picture once they are exposed to the quality of goods our vendors carry,” he said.

Lapidos said the show will feature more than 30 first-time exhibitors. For more information, visit www.offpriceshow.com. —Robert McAllister
