Buy a T-shirt, Plant a Tree
We have all seen the T-shirts with a message. But Tees for Change takes it one step beyond. Every time a customer buys a T-shirt, they help plant a tree.
At the moment, they are up to a little more than 10,000 trees planted in mostly developing nations in Asia, Latin America and Africa. The shirts are made from 100 percent certified organic cotton or a mix of 70 percent bamboo and 30 percent organic cotton.
The 18 messages are simple but inspiring. They range from “Chase dreams” to “Grow strong” and “Practice kindness.”
The person behind this concept is Andreea Ayers, who launched Tees for Change, based in New York, in 2007. “We deeply believe you can make a difference with what you wear,” Ayers said. “By wearing our tees, you’re not only supporting sustainable agriculture and business practices but also spreading positive messages.”
Ayers is going to be adding to her collection with totes, childrenswear and graphic tees matched with messages.
The T-shirts sell for $32 at various boutiques, yoga stores and spas or on the company's Web site, www.teesforchange.com.
