Allison Bryant and Jennifer Mohlar’s HM Showroom, located minutes from the beach in Santa Monica, Calif., has a brand roster that is quintessentially California: swimwear, sandals and T-shirts. During the Aug. 7–10 run of Los Angeles Fashion Market, Mohler and Bryant will bring their showroom downtown to a temporary space in the Gerry Building. HM Showroom will share a space with the New York–based showroom Salon 9, which represents the swimwear lines Red Carter, Zimmermann, Mara Hoffman Swim, Onda de Mar, Martha Rey, Jessica Simpson Swim, Liza & Tara and Isola Isabella.
The HM Showroom roster includes the swimwear lines Vix, Sofia by Vix, Hermanny by Vix and Tori Praver Swimwear. Tori Praver, a Hawaiian native and model who has been featured in the famed Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, recently showed her swim collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami Beach, Fla. Rounding out the mix is flip-flop brand Havaianas and T-shirt lines Mighty Fine and Public Library.
Mohlar and Bryant, who represented Mossimo from 1993 up until the brand was sold to Target in 2000, look for brands that have “uniqueness” yet “something that I also feel is compatible with a lot of people,” Mohlar said. The swimwear line Vix, for example, “offers something for everybody.”
HM Showroom’s brands are carried at a wide spectrum of stores, including beauty salons that carry Havaianas; specialty stores such as Fred Segal, Nordstrom and Urban Outfitters; and surf/skate retailers. —Rhea Cortado
