Guess Automates With Enovia's V6
Los Angeles–based Guess? Inc., which recently jumped on the PLM (product lifecycle management) bandwagon, is now bringing a sourcing-management tool into its IT toolbox.
The company, which works with Dassault Systegrave;mes’ Enovia division, has expanded its relationship with the company, investing in the Apparel Accelerator tool to help manage sourcing and production.
The Apparel Accelerator is an Internet-based application aimed at easing the flow of sourcing information between the company and its trading partners, thus improving visibility and giving managers a view of where all company projects stand.
Guess has production spread out all over the world and has been challenged to communicate specs such as color codes and style numbers to its suppliers in one common language. The Enovia V6 platform, which supports all of the company’s product development and sourcing applications, is set up to do just that.
“One of Guess’ core strengths is our ability to identify fashion trends, put the concept together, source it very quickly and have it in the store in time to meet consumer demand. Enovia hellip; enables Guess to be a responsive and nimble fashion leader by seamlessly managing collaboration with our suppliers, production facilities, and retail and wholesale locations,” said Mike Relich, chief information officer of Guess.
Enovia Chief Executive Michel Tellier said Guess is one of the first companies to employ product development and sourcing as a unified business process within a single platform.
Enovia sourcing solutions are developed with Wing Tai’s Zymmetry Group as part of a partnership struck a couple of years ago.
“In order to remain competitive in a fast-paced industry, Guess needs to accelerate the processes involved in bringing their products to market. One of the most effective ways to do this is by linking global sourcing with product development—in essence, marrying creative fashion teams with the practical production side,” said Steven Walton, chairman of the Zymmetry Group.
Enovia also announced that Trent Ltd.—a Tata Group company and operator of Trent Westside, one of India’s largest and fastest-growing retailers—will also deploy the Apparel Accelerator for design and development.
Trent has 38 stores in India and is planning a big expansion next year. The Enovia accelerator will take about two months to implement and will connect to the company’s ERP business-management system to give staff access to product status in the development pipeline. —Robert McAllister
