New Resources Guide: Charlotte Tarantola for Disney
The Walt Disney Co. is attempting to give its classic animated films another shot at youth. Last August, the company ventured into contemporary fashion with the new line Charlotte Tarantola for Disney.
Los Angeles designer Charlotte Tarantola debuted a limited-edition Spring 2009 line inspired by the 1938 film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” The collection features 12 pieces, including retro-looking cardigan sweaters, silk-chiffon blouses and T-shirts. Nary a dwarf or princess is depicted in the line’s prints; rather, the prints feature detailed depictions of the cuckoo clocks, acorns, crowns and forest-animal silhouettes from the film.
“It’s ethereal and dreamy,” Tarantola said of the line. “Disney is not the first thing that you will see.”
The line is carried at Fred Segal Fun in Santa Monica, Calif., Koi in Honolulu, and Beeline and Maxsee, both in Japan.—Andrew Asch
