How to Tie an Obi and Other Kimono Tips
Nobuaki Tomita will mix a little kimono history with kimono humor and kimono style tips when the Japanese kimono designer and stylist presents a kimono demonstration at a Japan America Society of Southern California event on April 17 at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles.
Tomita creates original kimonos for television, films and magazines in Japan and frequently takes his kimono tour on the road—and California is a frequent stop. Among the West Coast–centric kimonos created by Tomita are the Los Angeles kimono—complete with Hollywood sign—and a new Los Angeles Dodgers kimono.
More information about Tomita can be found here. And a look at some of his kimonos can be found here.
