Shapely Shadow Debuts Visualization Tool

Malibu, Calif.–based Shapely Shadow has officially released its FastFit360 visual aid for designers and production teams looking to improve speed-to-market and product quality.

The system uses the latest digital imaging technology based on an older invention—the picture flip book created during the Victorian era. In this case, fit models or dress forms are placed on a rotating platform and are filmed using a camera whose images can be broken down into 1-megabyte files and then e-mailed anywhere.

The system enables collaboration between designers and factories, be it offshore or local, on fit, form and function.

“The Holy Grail of the apparel industry is quality and fit,” said company principal Roxy Starr. “The question is how to utilize the available technologies to achieve this goal.”

The FastFit system eliminates the need to take multiple photos from different angles or to create video files that are too large to e-mail, Starr explained.

“FastFit360 bridges the language and cultural barriers of overseas manufacturing, not to mention reduction of e-mails,” Starr said. “Communicating with images creates a universal language that provides visibility into the supply chain for speed, flexibility, collaboration and stronger partnerships.”

FastFit is offered as a hosted “software as a service” solution and can be integrated into PDM/PLM applications. For more information, visit www.fastfit360.com or contact sales@shapelyshadow.com. —Robert McAllister
