Textile Secret's Bruce Diamond, 69
Longtime sales representative Bruce Diamond died on Sept. 16 from pneumonia. He was 69.
Friends and colleagues will gather to remember Diamond at a Sept. 26 meeting at the California Market Center.
The Bronx, N.Y., native got his start in the apparel industry in the 1960s on the East Coast before moving west to Dallas in the 1970s and finally settling in the Los Angeles area, where he had lived since the 1980s, said Danny Pourrahmani, owner of Los Angeles textile company Textile Secrets International, where Diamond worked for the past four years.
“He was very determined, a hard worker with a great sense of humor,” Pourrahmani said. “We will really miss him.”
Diamond was well-regarded for his friendly demeanor and his signature affectation. “His way of saying ’thank you’ was to say ’kiss-kiss,’” Pourrahmani recalled.
Indeed, Diamond used “kiss-kiss” to greet—or say farewell—to friends and colleagues, said longtime friend Bud Plaxen, a representative of Los Angeles–based Tiger Button.
“[It was] his signature thing,” Plaxen said. “It’s going to be on his epitaph.”
Diamond is survived by his wife, Elaine; a son and a daughter; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held in Florida. The quot;Celebration of Lifequot; meeting for Diamond will be held on Sept. 26 at noon in CMC suite C686, according to Plaxen, who said a memorial service is also planned for a later date. For more information, call TSI at (213) 623-4393. —Alison A. Nieder
