Happy Birthday, DKNY!
NEW YORK—Poor Donna Karan! All she wanted to do was celebrate the DKNY 20th anniversary with a killer Spring 2009 fashion show. Well, she got her wish (kind of). She garnered serious star power for her front row, which included Christina Ricci, Winona Ryder and Nicole Richie. The free-flowing collection featured knotting and draping with a retro London meets Tokyo chic feel. It all sounds fabulous, right? Except for the finale, when models were literally attacked on the runway by protesters toting animal-rights banners. If nothing else, it made for a memorable show—as much for the fashion as for the drama!
