New York Fashion Week Spring '09: Herve Leger
NEW YORK—“Bond girls.” That best describes the sexed-up models wearing Herve Leger by Max Azria’s signature bandage dresses. The bandage look was classic Leger, but designer couple Max and Lubov Azria freshened up the look with an electric color palette, airbrushed leather inserts and optical-illusion detailing. It was an ode to feminine power with seductive shapes and body-revealing cutouts. The collection had an ’80s slant with neon colors and one-shoulder dresses and even a blazer or two. There were plenty of options for the celebs who are sure to wear these ultra-sexy, body-skimming minis, including Joy Bryant, Michelle Trachtenberg and tennis star Maria Sharapova, who lined the front row. The Azrias even offered some red-carpet options embellished with beaded bandage appliqueacute;s. For the grand finale, models wearing sizzling-hot bandage/bondage swimwear fired down the runway. It’s doubtful that these swimwear pieces are really functional in the pool, but if there is a James Bond film in production in the near future, a Bond girl will surely be wearing one. —N. Jayne Seward
