L.A. Fashion Week Spring '09: Ed Hardy
The Ed Hardy empire just keeps growing. On Oct. 13, designer Christian Audigier gave a crowd full of acolytes at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif., just what they wanted—more, more, more. Break-dancing tykes in Ed Hardy kids apparel kicked off the show and pumped up the crowd for a runway show in which models wore Ed Hardy from head to toe. Mirroring the over-the-top fashions sported by those in attendance, Ed Hardy’s Spring 2009 vision didn’t deviate from the company’s proven formula. Bright colors, crystals, embroidery, logos, lions, geisha girls and all manner of tattoo art swirled together on denim, T-shirts, swimwear, leggings, Ugg-inspired boots, sneakers, scarves, belt buckles, trucker hats, woven shirts, hoodies and underwear to create Audigier’s signature look. Even the bottoms of the models’ patent-leather pumps bore evidence of the Ed Hardy brand, flashing the Ed Hardy logo with every step.—Erin Barajas
