Bringing New Retail to Downtown L.A.
The Downtown Center Business Improvement District is calling on Los Angeles Fashion District workers and residents to complete a marketing survey aimed at luring national retailers to the area.
The survey is available at www.downtownla.com and consists of about 30 questions and takes about 8 to 12 minutes to complete. Those who take the survey are eligible for prizes from area vendors.
The survey will be used to help companies gain information about downtown workers and residents and what types of businesses they would like to see in the area.
The Downtown Center BID was responsible for helping bring a Ralphs Fresh Fare market to the area. The market has become one of the more successful units in the company’s chain of stores, said a BID spokesperson.
Demographics in downtown have dramatically changed over the past five years due to the influx of residential developments as well as mixed-use entertainment-based projects such as L.A. Live!, which is being built near the Staples Center.
Kent Smith, executive director of the Fashion District BID, said with more residents living in the Fashion District and the immediate area, it’s important to get their input on what local additions they want to see. Smith said two more loft projects are about to come online: The Republic Lofts at Spring and Main and 810 S. Spring.
“We’d love to see more companies like Trader Joe’s open up in downtown, so we’re supportive of such surveys, and the Fashion District will also have access to that data as well,” Smith said. —Robert McAllister
