Von Dutch, Operation U.S.A. Host Myanmar Fund-raiser
Von Dutch Originals will host a private event on May 16 with humanitarian relief agency Operation U.S.A. to raise awareness about the ongoing relief effort for victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar.
Von Dutch Chief Executive Officer Tonny Sorenson will open the doors of his Beverly Hills home for the event, which will include performances by recording artist and “American Idol” alumnus Elliott Yamin and artists from Cirque Du Soleil. Bill Maher will be present to speak on behalf of Operation U.S.A.
Proceeds from Dianna Cohen’s and Dana Kirkpatrick’s displayed art for sale and items provided by Von Dutch for auction at the event will be donated to Operation U.S.A. Von Dutch has also created an exclusive fund-raising T-shirt that is available for $39 at www.vondutch.com.
Operation U.S.A. and Von Dutch have partnered in the past. Their “Tsunami Relief” T-shirt raised more than $100,000 in relief funds for the tsunami of 2004. —Rhea Cortado
