L.A. Fashion Week Fall '08: Flaunt's Reap/Sew
Flaunt magazine and Photogenics presented an unexpected and welcome addition to the events of Los Angeles Fashion Week. “Reap/Sew” showcased a sampling of Fall from some of the strongest emerging design talent in Los Angeles. The show celebrated the release of Flaunt’s Spring fashion issue and was held on March 13 at the Elevate Lounge in downtown Los Angeles.
Corpus, Kova & T, Development by Erica Davies, B. Son, Fremont and Crispin & Basilio presented a hipster mix of Fall wardrobes for men and women. Flaunt Editor in Chief Luis A. Barajas said he wanted to provide an outlet to showcase the talented designers in Los Angeles and plans to hold a runway show each season.
Kova & T opened the show with an edgy collection of latex, lace and sexy tomboy looks. Form-fitting leggings, flirty pleated dresses and lace overalls characterized the look. Menswear was nothing short of hipster cool with Corpus’ American Indian and pioneer-inspired brand of sophistication. B. Son, the men’s collection from San Francisco–based Rebecca Beeson, mixed downtown cool with a sleek city edge that included graphic tees, parkas, stripe sweaters and tailored wool coats. Fremont presented a tailored, sophisticated side. Flirty dresses and rompers were undeniably stylish, and menswear had a city-chic militant aesthetic. Crispin & Basilio showed a stylishly hip group of plaid tops and skirt combos and little party dresses paired with jackets. And feminine, but not too sweet, little black dresses from Development by Erica Davies closed the show.—N. Jayne Seward
