L.A. Fashion Week Fall #039;08: Monarchy Collection
Los Angeles–based premium-denim label Monarchy Collection seemed to order everything large for its third showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif., on March 13.
More than 500 people crowded into the main tent to view the 45-look show, which Monarchy Collection founder Eric Kim named “Streets of Scandinavia.”
The moniker was inspired by the collection’s clean, European-style looks. According to a Monarchy representative, the Monarchy logos were toned down in favor of detailed art. For example a men’s charcoal hoodie had a dragon graphic on the back.
Other looks included a clean-cut black blazer. There were fashion-forward silhouettes such as a women’s cable-knit cape and a gray jumpsuit with a black waist insert. Many of the looks were military-inspired and kept a foundation in denim.—Andrew Asch
