GlobalTex Shifts Dates for L.A. Show
Organizers of GlobalTex, the newly proposed biannual textile trade show set to launch in Los Angeles in 2009, have shifted the dates of the show to avoid a conflict with Material World Miami Beach.
GlobalTex, organized by the Dallas Market Center and backed by the Textile Association of Los Angeles, will be held April 28–30, 2009, and Oct. 13–15, 2009, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
GlobalTex’s April show was originally scheduled for April 21–23, 2009, but the dates were the same as Material World Miami Beach, the 8-year-old sourcing, textile and technology show held at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla. There were also concerns that GlobalTex’s dates would conflict with the Majors Market at the California Market Center, but the CMC’s apparel trade market for department-store and chain-store buyers is typically held the first weeks of April and October.
The new Dallas-backed textile show is the second to launch recently in Los Angeles.
In addition to GlobalTex, Urban Expositions, the Atlanta-area-based organizers of Material World Miami Beach, will launch Material World West beginning Sept. 30–Oct. 2, 2009, also at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The new shows are entering a market currently served by the longstanding Los Angeles International Textile Show, organized by and held at the CMC. The CMC recently set dates for the biannual show through 2011, beginning with the next show dates, which are set for Oct. 27–29, 2008. The first 2009 show is set for March 31–April 2.
