Wal-Mart Ruling Reached
A Minnesota court has found that Wal-Mart Stores broke state labor laws by not allowing employees to take promised rest breaks and by having employees clock out for training sessions. The retail giant could face more than $2 billion in fines, as well as other penalties. The state court found that Wal-Mart owes $6.5 million to 56,000 current and former Wal-Mart employees because of several contractual violations, including the missed rest breaks. The second phase of the trial is set for late October, when a jury will decide punitive damages and other penalties.
