Quiksilver: Getting Technical
The most avid surfers swear all you need to live the dream is a board and a pair of trunks. Quiksilver, the Huntington Beach, Calif.–based surf giant, believes surfers deserve something better than the standard swim trunk.
New for Summer 2008 is the Quiksilver Technical Series, a collection of boardshorts with jazzed-up treatments perfect for competitive surfers and those who want extra performance. Debuting in January 2008, the Technical Series includes the “Bleeker,” “Vanguard” and “TechnalEdgy,” all with distinct advantages and looks.
The “Bleeker” is “young, loud and in your face,” the company said. With mechanical two-way stretch, the “Bleeker” flexes with the body even “through your best turns.” The “Vanguard” is all business, featuring solid colors and understated geometric embossing. Power-stretch panels with four-way stretch combine with CoolMax, a moisture-managing, breathable fabric. Odor Guard protects the “Vanguard” from “smelly boardshort funk.” The “TechnalEdgy,” a competitive-grade boardshort, features bold color-blocking and race lines. Flow-through panels prevent trapped air from billowing inside the shorts and creating drag during duck dives. Mechanical stretch in the body of the boardshort allows for maximum movement, and body-contour stretch keeps the shorts fitted to the body like a second skin.
