Calvin Klein Opens First California Store at Beverly Center
Calvin Klein Inc. will be opening a string of stores in the United States in 2008, and Southern California was one of the first stops for the label. A 10,000-square-foot Calvin Klein boutique opened Jan. 3 at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles.
The Calvin Klein store is located in a space once occupied by a Pottery Barn in the Beverly Center’s Center Court on the sixth floor of the shopping center. The Calvin Klein debut takes place during a string of store openings for the Beverly Center, which is owned by Bloomfield Hills, Mich.–based real estate investment trust Taubman Centers Inc.
A branded store for the Los Angeles–based Ed Hardy label opened Dec. 17; it is located in the same area as the Calvin Klein store. A Burberry store opened Nov. 1. A Gucci store debuted in May, and a Ferragamo boutique is scheduled to open its doors for business in the spring of 2008, said Hilary Carr, marketing and sponsorship director for the Beverly Center.
The Calvin Klein store was designed by New York–based Lynch/Eisinger/Design in association with Calvin Klein’s retail design team. The boutique will offer all categories of the Calvin Klein brand, from men’s and women’s jeans to underwear, jackets, footwear, watches and eyewear. The brand already runs boutiques in Atlanta; Natick, Mass.; Denver; and Clinton Township, Mich. According to a Calvin Klein representative, the company hopes to open more boutiques in major American cities, including San Francisco and San Diego.—Andrew Asch
