Charming Changes
Bensalem, Penn.–based Charming Shoppes announced plans to close its Petite Sophisticate chain, as well as about 100 Fashion bug stores in an ongoing restructuring move. The retailer also announced changes in its executive staff. Joseph M. baron, executive vice president and chiefoperating officer, will oversee the company’s retail businesses on an interim basis. baron is temporarily assuming the duties of Diane M. Paccione, who has left the companyto become chief executive officer at DEb Shops Inc. baron will head up Charming Shoppes’ Fashion bug, Catherines Plus Sizes, Lane Bryant Outlet and Petite Sophisticate Outlet divisions. A search is underwayfor Paccione’s successor.
