Reveal L.A. Postponed
Reveal Los Angeles, the newest event on the Los Angeles Fashion Week lineup, will not debut in March as originally planned. Instead, the event, organized by IDG World Expo, will bow in October, according to a spokesperson for the event.
The move is “in consideration of what’s happening economically in our industry,” said Sara Stein, spokesperson for Reveal Los Angeles and co-owner of Los Angeles–based public-relations company SPR. Stein said details about the event will be available in early 2009 but added, “We’re gearing up for a strong October.”
Initial plans call for Reveal Los Angeles to host runway shows at the new L.A. Live facility in downtown Los Angeles, as well as a designer marketplace and other fashion events at the California Market Center.
“Reveal Los Angeles will be uniting technology and fashion in a 21st-century event that will be part fashion trade show and part fashion runway,” said Mary Dolaher, chief executive officer of IDG, at an event hosted by IDG and the CMC in October. At the time, Dolaher told the crowd, “IDG is thrilled to be joining the L.A. community.”
This will be the first fashion event for IDG, which produces many trade shows and consumer events, including Macworld Conference & Expo, E3 Media & Business Summit, Entertainment For All, LinuxWorld Conference & Expo and Next Generation Data Center. —Alison A. Nieder
