Agave Collaborates to Raise Eco Awareness
Premium-denim brand Agave Denim, based in Vancouver, Wash., announced its new eco-inspired collaborations with three groups: Cool Green, a nonprofit organization with a tree-planting initiative; Tesla Motors, manufacturer of a new environmentally friendly electric sports car; and Malouf’s, a retailer in Burlingame, Calif.
The Cool Green partnership will highlight Agave’s organic-cotton products. The Agave/Cool Green Fall 2009 program donates proceeds from the sale of up to 1,500 pairs of Agave’s organic-cotton jeans to the planting of approximately 7,500 trees in the fire-stricken Tahoe National Forest in California.
As part of Cool Green’s “Fashion for Forests” program, the collaboration will plant five trees for every pair of select Agave organic jeans sold. Shoppers have the option of choosing from three men’s styles and one women’s style made of Japanese organic-cotton denim. The pants wholesale for $95 a pair.
Spring 2009 may see an expanded collaboration between the companies by including Agave’s organic cotton and bamboo knitwear in the program.
A second collaboration with Malouf’s and Tesla Motors comes in the form of a holiday trunk show Dec. 6–7 at the specialty retailer’s shop.
Attendees of the two-day event will have the opportunity to shop Agave’s Holiday offerings and enjoy test rides in Tesla’s electric Roadster, which is powered exclusively by electricity and reaches speeds of 60 miles per hour in under four seconds. —Erin Barajas
