Guild, New Menswear Show to Debut in Vegas
Come Aug. 25–27, menswear buyers will have another option for their Las Vegas shopping schedule. Guild—a new suite-based show produced by shoe designer George Esquivel, sales representative Jason Fischer and lawyer Dana Robinson—will launch at Palms Place Hotel & Spa.
Fischer, who reps Esquivel’s upscale men’s shoe line, Esquivel, said he and several of his industry friends have avoided participating in traditional shows such as the MAGIC Marketplace and Project Global Trade Show. “They were just too big and got to be monsters,” he said. Instead, he and his friends opted to meet buyers in hotel suites scattered across Las Vegas. Now, Fischer and his partners hope to maximize their Vegas presence by banding together with approximately 20 other like-minded brands for a show that is intimate, flexible and reflects their brands’ aesthetic.
Staking out suites in the Palms and offering later hours from noon to 8 p.m. the first two days, shuttle service, and complimentary food and drinks, Guild hopes to differentiate itself from the more-is-more vibe of traditional shows. “People are ready for something new,” Fischer said. Guild organizers have kept the show relatively low profile, targeting 200 top-tier specialty retailers in North America and Japan. Participating brands include K.Z.O., Rogues Gallery, Esquivel, Carlos Campos, Rivi Jeans and Unconditional.
