Hot Topic Exec Joins Wet Seal
Hot Topic’s chief merchandising officer, Maria Comfort, left the music-influenced mall retailer on July 31 to oversee merchandising for juniors chain The Wet Seal Inc.
Comfort will start her new job as president and chief merchandising officer of the Foothill Ranch, Calif.–based company on Aug. 25.
Wet Seal runs 402 stores across the United States, including 94 Arden B. stores.
Comfort was named Hot Topic’s chief merchandising officer in August 2005. Prior to joining the teen chain, she held executive positions at Contempo Casuals, Kmart and Armani U.S. —Andrew Asch
